The Covenants

The Covenants

God planed all things even before creation. After the flood there were only 8 humans left alive on earth, Noah, his wife and their three sons. “And the sons of Noah. That went forth of the ark. Was Shem. and Ham. and Japheth.· and Ham is the father of Canaan. These are the three sons of Noah: and of them was the whole earth overspread. Genesis 9: 78. 79. KJV.

Of those three sons God picked Shem and his, descendents to care for the Oracles of God. Finely this task came down to Abraham and his seed. “And he took the book of the covenant. and read in the audience of the people: and they said. All that the LORD hath said will we do. and be obedient. And Moses took the blood. and sprinkled it on the people. and said. Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.” Exodus 24:7.8. KJV.

The first covenant, known as the old covenant, was given to Israel, God’s chosen people. “In that he saith. A new covenant. he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.” Hebrews 8.’ 13. KJV.

Next: “For finding fault with them. he saith. Behold. the days come. saith the

Lord. when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:” Hebrews 8:8. KJV.

“And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant. and to the blood of sprinkling. that speaketh better things than that of Abel. 11 Hebrews 12:24. KJV.

The New Covenant:  “Behold, the d,ays come. saith the LORD. that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel. and with the house of Judah:” Jeremiah 31:31. KJV.

The three main purpose of the covenant, both old and new:

  1. Provide rules for the people to live by.
  2. Provide a way for them to go to heaven at the end of their life.
  3. Set clear rules of punishment .if they failed to live by the rules.

The old covenant was a life under the letter of the law. The law it self, under which the people had to live, had a curse. “Christ hath redeemed  us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:(Gal.3;13)

“Tell me. ve that desire to be und,er the law, d,o ye not hear the law? For it is written. that Abraham had two sons. the one by a bondmaid. the other by a freewoman. But he who was of the bond, woman was born after the flesh: but he of the freewoman was by promise. Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants: the one from the mount Sinai. which gendereth to bondage. which is Agar. For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia. and, answereth to Jerusalem which now is. and is in bond, age with her children. But Jerusalem which is above is free. which is the mother of us all.” Galatians 4:27-26. KJV.

Christ  hath redeemed us from the curse of the law. being made a curse for us: for it is written. Cursed, is everyone that hangeth on a tree:” Galatians 3: 13. KJV.

The curse of the Law was, no mercy or forgiveness without appeasement for the violation. Some living thing had to die, shed blood to appease the law for the violation. That was changed under the new covenant when Jesus, himself, shed His blood to appease the law for all of manikin’s sins.

“For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for jt is written. Cursed is everyone that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.” Galatians 3:13. KJV.

Those who live under the law are compelled to do the whole law. If you break just one of them, you have broken them all. “For whosoever shall keep the whole law. and, yet offend, in one point. he is guilty of all. II James 2: 1 D. KJV.

And. “Now we. brethren. as Isaac was. are the children of promise. But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted, him that was born after the Spirit. even so it is now. Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bond, woman and, her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman. So then. brethren. we are not child, ren of the bondwoman. but of the free. II Galatians 4:28-37, KJV.

It is plain that to live under the law was living under bondage.

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free. and be not entangled, again with the yoke of bondage. Behold, I Paul say

unto you, that if ye be circumcised. Christ shall profit you nothing. For I testify again to every man that is circumcised,. that he is a debtor to d,o the whole law. Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law: ve are fallen from grace. For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision: but faith which worketh by love. Galatians 5: 7 -6, KJV.

It is also plain that no human could live under the law a total comply with it. “Now therefore why tempt ve God,. to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples. which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?” Acts 15: 10. KJV.

Jesus brought us out from under the law and brought us under the new covenant, which is of grace. We no longer are required to live the letter of the law, no one could. We now are commanded to live the Spirit of the law, which all Christians can do, by the grace of God, 7″But now we are d,e/ivered, from the law, that being dead, wherein we were held,: that we should, serve in newness of spirit, and, not in the oldness of the letter.” Romans 7:6, KJV.

One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded, in his own mind,. Romans 14:5. KJV.

The celebration of the Holy days of the Old Testament is not mandatory for Christians to observe. However, if one wants to observe them, let him do it unto the Lord and it will be accepted. Let him not condemn his brother for not celebrating them. Paul said all things are acceptable, but to him that thinks they are wrong to do, to him it is wrong. Jesus said He came to fulfill the law, and He did just that by bring us under the covenant of Grace for, brethren. ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh. but by love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled, in one word,. even in this:

Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.” Galatians 5: 1 3, 14, KJV. “But now we are delivered from the law. that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit. and, not in the oldness of the letter. Romans 7: 6. KJV.

Since both these covenants pertain only to the Israelites, and all true Israelites are the seed of Abraham, how do the gentiles fit in.? {{Know ye therefore that they, which are of faith. the same, are the children of Abraham. And, the scripture, foreseeing that God would, justify the heathen through faith. preached, before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, in thee shall all nations be blessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.” Galatians 3: 7-9. KJV. sSAnd, if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed. and, heirs according to the promise.” Galatians 3:29. KJV.

If you have been born again, (your second birth) you have passed from death unto life and by the miracle of God’s specific act you have been born into the spiritual nation of Israel. Which makes you now the seed of Abraham.

3:014 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.  48:003:015 Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth,or addeth thereto.  48:003:016 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.  48:003:017 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed befor of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.  48:003:018 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more o promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise(.Gal.3: `14-18)
